Travelling up the East Coast of Australia Sydney to Brisbane

DAY 1 Saturday 7th July 18 SYDNEY (D)

This morning we make our way to Tullamarine for our flight to Sydney. On arrival we are met by our coach and crew and make our way into town and explore the city sights including Mrs Macquaries Chair and the Historic Rocks area and of course the Bridge. We have free time at the Rocks for shopping before we make our way to Rydges Motel Camperdown for the night.

DAY 2 Sunday 8th HAWKESBURY RIVER TO TERRIGAL (D)

This morning after a hearty breakfast, we travel to Palm Beach where we board a boat to cruise up the Hawkesbury River. The Hawkesbury River, is a semi mature tide dominated drowned valley estuary. We depart Palm Beach Wharf cruising Pittwater and Broken Bay then up the lower Hawkesbury River and beautiful Cowan Waters. Lunch is enjoyed onboard. The scenic cruise includes a fascinating commentary along the way pointing out items of interest and history of the area. Heading away from the northern beaches across majestic Pittwater into Broken Bay we will pass the penguin colony of Lion Island and skirt West Head as the bush and sandstone shore of the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park looms closer, travelling on to Barrenjoey Headland, the lighthouse, Palm Beach then on to Terrigal, We settle in for the night at Clan Lakeside Lodge, Terrigal.

DAY 3 Monday 9thTERRIGAL TO PORT MACQUARIE (B,D)

After enjoying breakfast our coastal journey continues as we make our way to Newcastle where we tour Fort Scratchley, a former coastal defense installation. Following lunch we continue to Taree where we enjoy afternoon tea on the banks of the Manning River. At North Brother Mountain, a chance to take in the wonderful views over Laurieton and the inland lakes, prior to arriving at our home for two nights at Quality Sails Resort, Port Macquarie.

DAY 4 Tuesday 10th PORT MACQUARIE (B,D)

This morning, following breakfast, we travel to Wauchope and visit Timber Town where we stop for lunch. Timbertown is more than a heritage village! With many retailers located within the park, Timbertown is the place for shopping... With unique wares and gifts - Timbertown has something for everyone! We continue on to the Koala Hospital, it is not only a Hospital to treat sick and injured koalas but it is also involved in research with the University of Sydney. Enjoy coastal views as we travel further, visiting Douglas Vale Historic Winery. We return to our motel to freshen up for dinner.

DAY 5 Wednesday 11th PORT MACQUARIE TO COFFS HARBOUR (B,D)         

This morning we travel north, diverting to Crescent Head before continuing on to visit the Kempsey Pioneer Museum. Then its to the picturesque South West Rocks for lunch. Following lunch we visit nearby Arakoon, home to the ruins of the Trial Bay Goal. During the afternoon we continue on to Nambucca Heads and Coffs Harbour. Our accommodation for the night is at Opal Cove Resort, Coffs Harbour.

DAY 6 Thursday 12th GRAFTON TO MERMAID WATERS (B,D)                                                          

This morning we visit the Big Banana and enjoy the World of Bananas tour. We then travel via Glenreagh to Grafton and then onto Ballina for Lunch. We travel via Lennox Head to the beautiful Byron Bay and out to Cape Byron. At Cape Byron we take in some breathtaking views and a chance to stand on the most easterly point of mainland Australia. We then continue on to Surfers Paradise for a chance to shop and explore, and maybe pick up a souvenir or two. We settle in for two nights at the Quality Hotel, Mermaid Waters.

DAY 7 Friday 13th AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR (B,D)       

A relaxing start to the day as we board our luxury cruiser for our 2 hour cruise along the beautiful Gold Coast Canal and waterways in air-conditioned comfort. See the magnificent sights including home of the rich and famous, the ever changing skyline and luxurious motor vessels on the beautiful Broadwater while we enjoy a delicious Devonshire Tea. After the cruise we delight in the magnificent views from Observation Deck of Q1. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy. You can either take the opportunity to do a bit of shopping of maybe relax at the motel. This evening we attend the Australian Outback Spectacular where we enjoy a 3-course BBQ tea and a $23 million extravaganza capturing the grandeur of the Outback. After the show we return to the motel.

DAY 8 Saturday 14th BRISBANE (B,D)

Today make our way into Brisbane travelling beside the Brisbane River. We have free time  to explore. After lunch we enjoy a informative Brisbane River City Cruise, then we travel to the Wheel of Brisbane.The Wheel of Brisbane is recognised as one of the most exciting additions to the Brisbane City Skyline. You will be inspired by the breathtaking views across the iconic Brisbane River. This must see attraction provides something for everyone, young or old, tourist or local and is a must do for anyone in Brisbane. for an exciting ride and different view of Brisbane then its off to the Mantra Midtown Motel for our overnight stay. 

DAY 9 Sunday 15th HOME (B)                                                                                                               

After breakfast we depart and visit the Mt CootTha Lookout and the Botanical Gardens before we head to the Airport for our flight home after a wonderful and relaxing time exploring the east coast from Sydney to Brisbane.
