All aboard for a fun filled Christmas Lights Tour in Geelong. Today we travel via Seymour where we enjoy our morning tea. Then we continue through Broadford along the Old Hume Highway to Kilmore then along a scenic route via Lancefield, Romsey to Gisborne for our lunch break. After lunch we make our way to the delightful township of Bacchus Marsh where we stop for afternoon tea. We then make our way to Geelong where we visit the Botanical Gardens before arriving at our accommodation for the next four nights, Quality Bayside Geelong.
A relaxing day as we discover Victorias largest regional city that enjoy an enviable lifestyle with easy access to Victorias most beautiful beaches and scenery. Time to explore the waterfront where we see Geelongs most photographed personalities. We return to our motel where we sit down to a delicious Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. Eat, drink and be merry. Following our festive lunch we take an enjoyable afternoon drive to Barwon Heads. Barwon Heads is a popular seaside community, offering a diverse variety of coastal attractions from the shallow and sandy shoreline of the Barwon River to the windswept surf beaches which front Bass Strait. We return to our motel for a rest, or maybe a leisurely stroll along the beach. Dinner tonight is at the motel.
All aboard for a relaxing day as we join the spectacular Great Ocean Road, boasting some of the most rugged and beautiful coastlines, through Anglesea and onto the beachside town of Lorne. We continue on to Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill to the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk. We enjoy spectacular rainforest scenery, see the ancient Beech and Myrtle Forests as we walk along the elevated tree top platform. This afternoon we make our way back along the Princes Highway for our return journey through Colac and Winchelsea to our motel.
After a hearty breakfast we explore the waterfront, seeing Bollards & Cunninghams Pier. We then head for Drysdale before boarding The Q Train. It is a travelling restaurant which will take you to Queenscliff via Suma Park and then return to Drysdale, where you will alight approximately 4 hours later. Never before has Australia seen a heritage rail line used for showcasing local food, wine, beer and cider. We experience restored carriages and enjoy a gastronomical journey unlike anything else you have experienced. After this fantastic experience we return to our motel for a rest before Dinner
We enjoy breakfast before departing the motel and making our way to Queenscliff to board the Searoad Ferry. Experience the beauty of Melbournes Port Phillip Bay on the 40 minute crossing between Queenscliff and Sorrento. Sail on pristine waters passing three Marine National Parks, view the spectacular coastal scenery and cliff top mansions. We then travel to Arthurs Seat for a ride on the Arthurs Seat Eagle. Board a state of the art gondola and fly over the state forest to the highest point of the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. You will be torn between looking at the breathtaking view across the bay to the city and spotting wildlife as you soar high above the trees. Either way you have a birds eye view! We have lunch at the cafe at Arthurs seat before departing and head for Frankston and see the Sand Sculptures. Then its time to head home after an enjoyable tour to Geelong and surrounding areas.
