Cardwells Coach Travel welcomes you aboard for the exciting Cornish Festival. Today we travel along the Murray Valley Highway to Echuca for morning tea, we then continue through to Kerang and Lake Boga to Swan Hill for lunch. After lunch we travel through the Mallee Region and the Hattah National Park to Red Cliffs. We enjoy afternoon tea before continuing along the Sturt Highway and across the South Australian Border to Loxton for our Overnight Stay at Loxton Community Hotel Motel.
We farewell our hosts as we travel through the Riverland Country to Barmera and see Lake Bonney and onto the historic river town of Morgan, the starting point of the Whyalla Pipeline. We make our way to the copper mining town of Burra where we see the Paxton Square Cottages, the Dugouts and the Redruth Gaol. This afternoon we pass through the beautiful Clare Valley and visit the oldest winery in the area, Sevenhills Cellars, for a self guided tour. Then its onto the copper town of Kadina, where we settle for the Next Three Nights at the Kadina Gateway Motor Inn.
A fun day awaits as we discover Australias original Cornish Festival Kernewek Lowender, which translates to Cornish Happiness, in the triangle mining towns of Kadina, Wallaroo and Moonta. Today we travel to Kadina, the largest town on the Yorke Peninsula. The towns history is related to the boom copper mining era during the late 1800s and early 1900s, when thousands of Cornish Miners flocked to the area to mine the metal. During the 60 year boom the Cornish Miners left a legacy now celebrated in the biennial Kernewek Lowender Festival. Join in the Furry Dance, the fun of the Village Green Fair and the home style Cornish Food. We also enjoy the Gem & Mineral Display before returning to our Motel with time to relax before Dinner.
We travel to Moonta for the Grand Procession of traditional and humorous floats and maypole dancers before we head to Fer Kernewek the traditional Cornish Fair. This afternoon we tour the Moonta Mines and visit the National Trust Museum located in the Old Moonta Mines Model School. We also visit the Old Sweet Shop before we return to our motel in time to freshen up before dinner.
This morning we enjoy an historic tour of Wallaroo where we discover its unique heritage, charming old Cornish Cottages and historic buildings, with the lovely old stonework done by true craftsmen. We also enjoy the Cavalcade of Cars and motor cycles with veteran, vintage, classic, special interest cars and commercial vehicles. Then its off to Kadina to the Farmshed Museum with time to explore before we farewell the Yorke Peninsula and the Copper Triangle before making our way to Tanunda in the beautiful Barossa Valley where we settle in for our Overnight Stay at the Barossa Motor Lodge.
A relaxing start to the day as we make our way to Williamstown and see the Whispering Wall before travelling through the Adelaide Hills to Hahndorf, a village reminiscent of its German ancestry and one of the best known and most interesting towns in the area. Enjoy time to wander the main street and explore the small shops with interesting local handicrafts and homemade preserves. Then we cross the border and make our way to Nhill for our Overnight stay at the Comfort Inn Zero Nhill.
After a hearty breakfast we see the Draught Horse Memorial of the Famous Clydesdale before continuing through Dimboola to St Arnaud for lunch. Then we make our way home through Bendigo after a fun filled tour of the Kernewek Lowender Festival in Australias Little Cornwall.
