The Memorial also has an outdoor Sculpture Garden.  Then we arrive at the Highlight of the tour, Jamala Wildlife Lodge. Meet in the UShaka lodge and chat with your fellow travellers and become acquainted with Colin, Colby & Brodie (our black & white Colobus Monkeys), and Homer & Tawny (Queensland Groper & Tawney Nurse Shark). This afternoon we take part in an Afternoon Safari and enjoy learning about the National Zoo & Aquarium with one of the guides and meet some of our beautiful animals. DAY 4 – Friday 22nd         JAMALA LODGE                     (B,D)

This morning we farewell Canberra after a very unique and exciting tour.

Giraffe Treehouses With just 6 suites located in a private enclosure, guests staying in the Giraffe Treehouses overlook the giraffes on one side and guests are free to wander amongst a friendly herd of animals located on the other side of their room. You will have the opportunity to feed one of our resident giraffes, Hummer or his girlfriend Skye, from either your balcony or in his enclosure (he decides where, but nearly always from your balcony). Your room also overlooks the Molonglo River and looks towards Scrivener Dam. Maximum adults: 3 Maximum total guests: 4 Bedding: 1 king bed and 1 double pull-out sofa. Please note all Giraffe Treehouses have 6–8 stairs. These rooms are located out in the zoo; therefore, access may require guests to walk through the zoo. Although animals usually appear as depicted in photos, no guarantees can be given.

Price: $2,100 per person based on TWIN SHARE Single Supplement: $1,232

Jungle Bungalows consist of five luxurious individual suites, each adjoining an enclosure within the zoo. A glass wall is all that separates you from a pride of lions, a cheetah, tigers or a pair of Malayan sun bears! Regardless of whether you are relaxing in your lounge area, resting in bed or taking a leisurely bath, when your resident animal is in the bungalow den area, you will only be a heartbeat away from these amazing creatures, with large viewing windows looking into their habitat. All these animals have access to their enclosures during your visit. Maximum adults per room: 3 Maximum total guests per room: 4 Bedding: 1 king bed and 1 double pull-out sofa Access to some Jungle Bungalows requires guests to walk up a number of stairs. When making a booking you have the option of giving 3 preferences for which animal will be outside your room. We do our very best to meet your preferences, but no guarantees are given, as allocation can depend on: Which animals are in the relevant enclosures? Families with children have to be allocated specific rooms. Earlier bookings may have given the same preferences as you. Some guests have mobility issues and need the bungalow with the least steps. Some visitors may be staying over from the previous night. We can only recommend that if you feel that you will not be happy with any of the four animal species adjoining the bungalows (sun bears, cheetah, lions, tigers or a substitute one), that you either select a Giraffe Treehouse or a uShaka Lodge room. Please note guests may experience some disruption during the night as the animals move about their enclosures. The Jungle Bungalows are secreted away within the zoo itself and their location and proximity to animal enclosures means that there must be at least one person 21 years or older staying in a bungalow. Many animals react differently to children; therefore, the following age limits apply: Lions—No children. Sun bear: Minimum age is 6 years old. Tiger:  Minimum age is 14 years old and minimum height is 1.5m tall for children. Depending on circumstances at the time, these can sometimes be lower. Cheetah: Minimum age is 14 years old and minimum height is 1.5m tall for children. Although animals usually appear as depicted in photos, no guarantees can be given.)
