All aboard as we head off for the Bathurst & Regional NSW tour. Today we travel along the Murray Valley Highway to Albury for morning tea, then along the Hume Freeway via Rosewood to Tumbarumba. We explore Boggy Creek Farm for the highlight of the day, as we are entertained by sheep, dogs, horses and cattle. Enjoy the picturesque scenery as we travel through the Gilmour Valley to Tumut. We settle into the lovely Tumut Valley Motel for our Overnight Stay.
This morning we depart the motel and travel to Young the cherry capital of Australia where we have morning tea and time to explore. We make our way to Cowra, where we have lunch before visiting the beautiful Japanese Gardens. These traditional Japanese designed gardens offer a peaceful place to relax. Then we visit the POW camp and War Cemetery before travelling to Bathurst for our stay for two nights at the Quality Hotel Bathurst.
We have a great day planned around Bathurst, including a ‘spin’ around the Mt Panorama Race Track. We also visit the National Motor Racing Museum. Then it’s on to Miss Traill’s House, which contains a significant collection of artefacts relating to four generations of elegant furnishings and a most enchanting private garden. This afternoon we visit the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, one of the oldest regional galleries in NSW. We return back to our hotel to freshen up for our evening’s activity. The popular television series “Downton Abbey” featured a country estate depicting the lives of an aristocrat family and their servants. Tonight, we enjoy dinner in the styles of Downton Abbey at Abercrombie House. We’ll take pre-dinner drinks in the Drawing Room and dinner in the Ballroom which will be themed to reflect the magnificent elegance of the Edwardian Era. A highlight will be the musical performances by the “in house” musicians. What a wonderful evening!
This morning after breakfast we travel to Orange and explore this interesting town and then it's onto Dubbo, the regional capital of the Central West. We enjoy a visit to the Western Plains Zoo, home of the Black Rhinos and the Sumatran Tigers. We have ample time here to explore and have lunch (own cost). Then it's onto Parkes stopping at the Big Dish with time to explore and finally finishing for the night at the North Parkes Motel.
We enjoy our last breakfast together before setting off on our journey homeward. Stopping at West Wyalong for morning tea, before continuing through Narrandera and Finley, crossing the Victorian border at Tocumwal.
