We start with a late Syrian breakfast and spiced ice cream before enjoying a quick stopover for Turkish street food. Indulge in an Afghan feast which includes delicious grilled meat kebabs, fluffy and tasty flat bread, and dishes that are as marvelous as “Mantu” can be. You will discover flavours created by the addition of dried limes and saffron, and enjoy some of the best rice and bread to be had anywhere in the world. Think Afghan bread dumplings, Persian treats and sweets coupled with the fascinating cultural insight as you meet generous business owners, chefs, refugees guides and hear stories of hopes and dreams of those who have made long journeys to a new life in Australia. This is far from your typical food tour! If you like exploring new cultures and communities and building relationships through food, then this is the experience for you. We return to the hotel to freshen up and then head out for another unique food experience at Cubby’s Kitchen Lebanese Cuisine with a delicious banquet. Originally opening in 2016 as a pop-up in Surry Hills, Toko Owner, Matt Yazbek, launched Cubby’s Kitchen in a new home in Sydney CBD in 2018. The venue derives from Yazbek’s mother Mouna whose nickname happens to be Cubby and the restaurant is an ode to his family’s heritage. Channeling the traditional favourites with modern influences, the chef has applied his knowledge of Lebanese and Japanese food to create subtle connections in cooking styles and flavours that can be found throughout the menu. Then we return to the motel for a good night’s sleep.
Time for breakfast before enjoying some free time in Sydney Darling Harbour. The precint is alive with activity and plays host to Sydney’s top attractions including the Sea Life Aquarium, Madame Tassauds Wax Museum, Wild Life Sydney Zoo and the Australian National Maritime Museum, or you may choose to wander the Darling Harbour and treat yourself to a delightful morning tea, or lunch. We then meet back at the hotel where we transfer to the airport for our flight back to Melbourne. On arrival in Melbourne we will be met by a Cardwell’s Coach to begin our journey back home, after an enjoyable exotic experience.
