Day 1: Mon 7th March 2022 Melbourne – Brisbane (D)
Welcome aboard! Today we make our way to the Melbourne Airport for our flight from Melbourne to Brisbane. On arrival into Brisbane, we will be transferred to the Ibis Brisbane Airport Hotel for our overnight stay. Enjoy this evening getting to know your fellow travellers over a relaxing two course meal.
Day 2: Tue 8th Mar Brisbane- Norfolk Island (B, D)
After a hearty breakfast! Transfer to the airport for our flight to Norfolk Island go through airport formalities. As you begin to fly into Norfolk Island you will notice a dramatic change in scenery from the city. Fly over Norfolk’s rolling hills and quaint country landscape. When you arrive in Norfolk go through airport formalities and be transferred to your accommodation which will be the Castaway Hotel for the next 7 nights. Castaway Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Burnt Pine with sweeping valley and garden views, the Castaway is just a short stroll to local shops and cafes. Tonight, enjoy dinner at your accommodation.
Day 3: Wed 9th Mar Half Day Tour- Dinner with the Mutineers (B, D)
This afternoon you will have an Island orientation tour a must for every visitor. Visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge & much more. See and hear the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches & golf course, the renowned Melanesia Chapel, our Government, our laws & lifestyle. Enjoy views from a scenic spot on this full commentary conducted tour. Rest for a delicious morning tea in the garden of an historic island home built by Fletcher Quintal- descendant of ‘Bounty’ mutineers Fletcher Christian & Matthew Quintal. Tonight Laugh, cheer and sing along with the talented descendants of the famous Mutiny on the Bounty. As the crew regales you with a night of fun you'll never forget. Savour the culture, music and laughs while you enjoy a delicious two course feast fit for a Mutineer. This new and spectacular tour on Norfolk Island is located in an Island Home where you will be entertained by descendants of the Bounty Mutineers. You will be served a Complimentary drink on arrival.
Day 4: Thu 10th Mar Cheese Tour – Island Fish Fry- Sound & Light (B, D)
This morning join John Christian a local cow cheese producer. Milking a small herd of cows on pristine Norfolk Island, John produces a range of tasty and tempting mouth-watering cheeses such as tangy feta, yummy halloumi, creamy blues, tempting camemberts and tasty cheddars. On this tour you will visit a local farm and meet the milking cows, you will also learn about the Sea Salt industry on the Island, the new business started, which turns the cowhide into a natural leather, before visiting local bee-hives and a saw mill where handmade ukuleles are created. Dinner tonight enjoy a feast of Island dishes, salads, homemade bread & fresh fired fish, followed by Island desserts & tea or coffee. Enjoy some local entertainment on Norfolk’s, Puppy Point. Following nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the Convict Settlement. The stillness and the stars are there just as they were before mankind arrived in 1788. However, with the dramatic use of real-life sounds, theatrical lighting & costumed actors, the stillness is broken as Pinetree Tours takes you through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island’s convict era.
Day 5: Fri 11th Mar 4WD Tour – Night as a Convict (B, D)
Today join John and his Island staff- all direct descendants of the Bounty Mutineers; on an exciting 3- hour tour to points of Norfolk, accessible only by 4WD. This back of beyond tour takes you through private properties and the national park featuring spectacular scenery, native flora & bird life. It also includes delicious homemade cakes with tea & coffee at a beautiful Island home. Don’t expect a rough race through the scrub. Drivers are conscientious and knowledgeable. All vehicles are comfortable modern 4WD’s. Great for all ages. Tonight, you will get to experience one of Norfolk Islands most popular dinners "Night as a Convict." Dress as a convict & join in with the Commandant for an evening of gaiety, feasting, singing & dancing. Great food! Great fun! (outfit supplied).
Day 6: Sat 12th Mar Bush Walk- Glass Bottom Boat- Wonderland (B, D)
Take your choice this morning of a 1.5km stroll through Palm Glen or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk through scenic Mt. Bates to Captain Cook Monument. At the end of the walk, we meet on the clifftop for a delicious breakfast barbecue. (These walks are not recommended to anyone with medical conditions). If you prefer not to rise early and bush walk, but would like to have breakfast on the cliff top, join the walkers at Anson Bay & share in the delicious barbecue breakfast. After, two Norfolk Islanders will share their knowledge of Norfolk's unique marine life. Once you have 'walked the plank' with these 'mutineer descendants' it takes 60 seconds (yes one minute) to be at the reef. View beautiful coral gardens & tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk's lagoon. Full & interesting commentary on this environmental tour. With these two you should be prepared for a touch of Norfolk humour. Tonight, after dinner at your accommodation, join Pine Tree Tours for the evening as they head off into the Wilderness. The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines & bushland lit up like an enchanted forest. Meander along (or ride in the 'moon buggy') a gentle winding path with Matt Bigg- a descendant of the Bounty mutineers, as he recites poems and lights up the diorama.
Day 7: Sun 13th Mar Convict Settlement Tour- Hilli (B, D)
This afternoon join Pinetree tours on an in-depth tour of the World Heritage Listed Georgian settlement of Kingston. This whole area is a living showcase of Polynesian, convict and Pitcairn Islander history. We take you through the cemetery, where you will hear the history of the colonial headstones, as well as the old houses along Quality Row. You will also walk through the ruins of the New Gaol, see the Pier Store, Boat Shed and the Crank Mill - all of which has to be seen to be believed. Trust us - the only way to truly experience the incredible history of Norfolk Island - is to see it for yourself. Afternoon Tea is included. This evening tea will be served at the Hilli’s restaurant.
Day 8: Mon 14th Mar Cyclorama- Progressive Dinner (B, D)
As you wake up to another day in paradise. You will visit the Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama…the amazing 360° panoramic painting. One of Norfolk’s most popular attractions and a Tourism Awards winner, the Cyclorama is constantly impressing visitors. It offers a unique way to experience the history of the Bounty adventures and discover how the world’s most famous mutiny created the Pitcairn and Norfolk Island communities. Visitors walk inside a circular panoramic painting and are surrounded on all sides by the immense artwork. A spectacular 3D effect is achieved with detailed artwork and realistic perspective, creating an incredible illusion of reality for the viewer. Storyboards and background sound effects and music add to the experience making this a highly recommended attraction. The delightful art gallery, Gallery Guava, is located at the Cyclorama complex and displays a variety of works by Norfolk's leading artists. Enjoy a 3-course meal progressing to different Norfolk Island family homes. You will join a group of other Norfolk Island visitors and be taken to carefully selected island homes where you will hear Norfolk stories from your dinner hosts. The Progressive Dinner is a fun night and a great way to meet the local people.
Day 9: Tue 15th Mar Norfolk Island- Brisbane (B, D)
This morning we say goodbye to Norfolk Island and fly to Brisbane. On arrival into Brisbane, you will be transferred to the Ibis Brisbane Airport Hotel for your night stay and dinner.
Day 10: Wed 16th Mar Brisbane- Melbourne (B)
This morning transfer to the Brisbane Airport for your flight back to Melbourne. On arrival into Melbourne, you will be transferred back to your original locations after a very memorable tour of Norfolk Island.
