Easter Weekend- Snowy Mountains & Merimbula

Day 1: Thur 14th April Corryong- Cooma (D)

All aboard! Today we set off on our adventure over the Easter Holidays! Touring through the Snowy Mountains and exploring the coast of Merimbula. We start our journey by travelling through the Mitta Mitta Arm of Lake Hume for Lunch in Corryong. This afternoon make sure your camera is ready for Kosciusko National Park to view the area from Scammell’s Spur lookout. The 1000m high lookout offers outstanding scenic views over Western Fall wilderness and Main Rage, including Mount Abbott, Mount Townsend and Carruthers Peak. We continue onto Cooma where we will have an Overnight Stay at Snow Season Motor Inn.

Day 2: Fri 15th April Cooma- Merimbula (B, D)

After a hearty breakfast! This morning we will visit the Snowy Mountains Scheme. A hydroelectricity and irrigation complex. The Scheme consists of sixteen major dams; nine power stations; two pumping stations; and 225 kilometres of tunnels, pipelines and aqueducts that were constructed between 1949 and 1974. From here we will travel along Snowy Mountain Hwy to Bemboka National Park to Pipers Lookout. This lookout gives spellbinding views while giving you a feeling of floating amongst the eucalypts and lush ferns. From here we make our way to Bega for Lunch and. Making our way next to the Bega Pioneer Museum for a visit and afternoon tea. We then make our way to our accommodation in Merimbula for the next three nights, Comfort Inn Merimbula.

Day 3: Sat 16th April Discover Merimbula- Kameruka Estate (B, L, D)

Merimbula is a coastal town in southern NSW. It known for its beaches, walks, wildlife and parks. Today we jump straight into exploring by visiting the Wheelers Oyster Farm. From humble beginnings in 1927, to becoming a national name. Wheeler's Oyster Farm is a cornerstone in the history of aquaculture on the Sapphire Coast. Journey through the history of the Wheeler’s family and get insider access to their state-of-the-art factory. Meet the farmers and taste prized Sydney Rock Oysters. We continue onto the Aquarium for Lunch and a guided tour of their marine life. After a tasty lunch this afternoon we visit Kameruka Estate for an enjoyable historic visit. Kameruka Estate was the birthplace of the famous Kameruka Cheese. The Jersey stud was established in 1888, and the manufacture of cheese on the property was the foundation of the cheese industry in the Bega Valley.

Day 4: Sun 17th April Eden Cruise- Killer Whale Museum (B, D)

This morning we travel to the coastal town of Eden know as a natural paradise. Our first stop is the Killer Whale Museum. Exhibitions about the shore-based whaling operations from Twofold Bay during the 1800s and early 1900s include a full skeleton of 'Tom' the Killer Whale, legendary Orca. He led a pack of killer whales in the hunt for baleen whales on their southward migration each year. There is also an exhibition relating to the involvement of local indigenous Australians in shore-based whaling. There is a full-scale model of the type of whale boat used in whale chases out of Twofold Bay. After the Museum enjoy some free time and lunch in the town of Eden. This afternoon we head out onto the water to try and spot some real whales on a Cat-Baluo cruise.

Day 5: Mon 18th April Cann River- Lakes Entrance- Resin Art (B, D)

Today we head south departing Merimbula bound for stunning Lakes Entrance. Travelling through Cann River & Orbost.  Once arrived you get to walk along Lakes Entrance’s famous 90 Mile Beach. This afternoon you are in for a real treat enjoy a the Salt Water Creative Co. For a Resin Art Work Shop. You will create your own Resin Dipped Serving Paddle & a set of four coasters to take home. Nourishment provided of some local goodies to enjoy while you make your piece of art. Tonight, our overnight accommodation is, The Esplanade Resort & Spa.

Day 6: Tue 19th April Warragul- Healesville- Home (B, D)

Today we farewell Lakes Entrance! But we still have an exciting day ahead. We travel home via the scenic route through Healesville. When we arrive in Healesville we stop in the beautiful town for lunch a meander around the local stores. Later we head to Yarra Glen Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery where we will discover the taste of 12 of our most popular chocolates from their specialty ranges. Craft your very own Rocky Road choosing from over 50 exotic ingredients to blend with our couverture milk, dark and white chocolate. From here we make our way back home after a delightful tour.
