Day 1 – Friday 23rd December ’22 TUMUT (D)
All aboard as we head off for our Festive Break in Bathurst tour. Today we travel along the Murray Valley Highway to Albury for morning tea, then along the Hume Freeway via Rosewood to Tumbarumba. We explore the Pioneer Women’s Hut. The Pioneer Women's Hut at Glenroy Heritage Reserve is one of the best and most unusual small museums in Australia. Cleverly themed, it reflects the ingenuity of women in finding solutions to the challenges of looking after a family in early rural Australia. The accessibility and provenance of the diverse collection adds to its reputation.Enjoy the picturesque scenery as we travel through to Tumut. We settle into the lovely Ashton Motel for our Overnight Stay.
Day 2 – Saturday 24th BATHURST (B,L,D)
This morning we depart the motel and travel to Young the cherry capital of Australia where we have morning tea and time to explore. We make our way to Cowra, where we have lunch before visiting the beautiful Japanese Gardens. These traditional Japanese designed gardens offer a peaceful place to relax. We enjoy lunch at the Cowra Services Club before continuing on our way. We arrive at Bathurst for our overnight stay at Quality Hotel Bathurst. Tonight we enjoy dinner in the styles of Downton Abbey at Abercrombie House (built in the 1870’s). We’ll take pre-dinner drinks in the Drawing Room and dinner in the Ballroom which will be themed to reflect the magnificent elegance of the Edwardian Era. A highlight will be the musical performances by the "in house” musicians. What a wonderful evening!
Day 3 - Sunday 25th – Christmas Day (B,L,D)
We start our day after a hearty breakfast, including a ‘spin’ around the Mt Panorama Race Track and visiting Machattie Park for a stroll, before traveling on to Chifley Dam. Now that we have worked up an appetite we travel to the Rydges Panorama for a delicious festive lunch. Time to eat, drink and be merry. This afternoon is free to relax at the motel, or maybe take a walk. Dinner is at our motel.
DAY 4 – Monday 26th DUBBO-PARKES (B,D)
This morning after breakfast we travel to Orange and explore this interesting town and then it's onto Dubbo, the regional capital of the Central West. We enjoy a visit to the Western Plains Zoo, home of the Black Rhinos and the Sumatran Tigers. We have ample time here to explore and have lunch (own cost). Then it's onto Parkes stopping at the Big Dish with time to explore and finally finishing for the night at the North Parkes Motel.
DAY 5 – Tuesday 27th HOME (B)
We enjoy our last breakfast together
before setting off on our journey homeward. Stopping at West Wyalong for morning tea, before continuing through Narrandera and Finley, crossing the Victorian border at Tocumwal.
