Itinerary

DAY 1 – Tuesday 1st October 2024 SWAN HILL - WENTWORTH

All aboard for a real outback adventure tour. Today travel along the Murray Valley Highway to Echuca for our first morning tea break (Note: Be aware of Fruit Fly Zones throughout this tour), then we continue on to Swan Hill for lunch. After lunch we travel through Robinvale and Euston crossing the Murray River making our way to Wentworth, where we settle in for our Overnight Stay at the Wentworth Grande Resort.

DAY 2 – Wednesday 2nd WENTWORTH - BROKEN HILL

Today we travel the Silver City Highway to the isolated town of Broken Hill, created to serve the miners in the incredibly rich silver, lead and zinc mines of the Barrier Range. We enjoy an interesting guided tour of Broken Hill. After lunch visit the Silver City Art Centre, where we see the Big Picture. This afternoon see the Sculpture Symposium, 13 sandstone sculptures situated on one of the highest points in the area. We enjoy our Overnight Stay at Ibis Styles, Broken Hill.

DAY 3 – Thursday 3rd FROME DOWNS - ARKAROOLA

This morning we head west along the Barrier Highway crossing over the border and into South Australia (No Fruit to be taken across) to Yunta where we stop for lunch. Then our journey takes us right on the very fringe of the Australian outback as we head north through Frome Downs Station, some abandoned settlements and sparse paddocks to Arkaroola and the spectacular Gammon Ranges National Park. We settle in for the next Two Nights in the Greenwood Lodges- Arkaroola. (Facilities are less elaborate in this remote area).

DAY 4 – Friday 4th RIDGE TOP TOUR - SCENIC FLIGHT

An exciting day as we discover the heart of ARKAROOLA, see this rugged outback country, incredible quartzite ridges, deep gorges and rich mineral deposits. We enjoy the spectacular Ridge Top Tour as we travel aboard open 4 wheel drive vehicles across this rugged mountain country. We see towering granite peaks and razor backed quartzite ridges, visit Mt. Painter, Yudnamutana Gorge and the breathtaking Sillers Lookout, enjoy awe inspiring 360 degree views extending more than 80 kilometres over the famous Salt Lake Frome. An absolutely unique tour - don't forget your camera's. We return to Arkaroola this afternoon and we enjoy a Spectacular Scenic Flight with breathtaking views of Northern Flinders and Lakes. Tonight we experience a view of the skies from the Observatory.

DAY 5 – Saturday 5th ARKAROOLA - NEW LEIGH CREEK - WILPENA

This morning we farewell Arkaroola as we travel through the Gammon Ranges and the spectacular Italowie Gorge with many ancient and majestic Red gums, we pass through the Historic Balcaroon Station to the small town of Copley. Continue on to the New Leigh Creek where we discover what happened to old Leigh Creek. We explore Aroona Dam an Oasis of green shrubs and trees surrounding the Tranquil Waters that provide New Leigh Creek with a good permanent water supply. Then we head south to Parachilna, and see Australia’s no. 1 outback pub, The Praire Hotel. We travel through the scenic Parachilna Gorge to Blinman, an old copper mining settlement. Continue through the Central Flinders Ranges past the Great Wall of China. We enjoy the Next Two Nights at the Wilpena Pound Resort.

DAY 6 – Sunday 6th SOUTHERN FLINDERS RANGES

Today is a day never to be forgotten, as we explore the Southern Flinders Ranges. A relaxing morning with time to walk into Wilpena Pound, or for the more adventurous perhaps a scenic flight (at own expense). This afternoon we travel down to Hawker to visit Jeff Morgan’s Gallery and the Wilpena Panorama before continuing onto the Kanyaka ruins, once a gracious homestead dating back to the 1850’s. Then it’s back to the resort to freshen up before dinner.

Day 7 – Monday 7th WILPENA – PORT AUGUSTA

The excitement continues, after a hearty breakfast we travel down to Quorn for a short town tour then morning tea before boarding the Pichi Richi explorer, an old beautifully restored steam train taking you on a journey along the Great Northern Railway through Pichi Richi Pass to Woolshed Flat where you will be met by your coach. Then onto Port Augusta for lunch. This afternoon we visit Wadlata outback centre an informative, interactive display of outback history. We settle in for our overnight stay at The Standpipe Motor Inn.

DAY 8 – Tuesday 8th BURRA – MILDURA

A day of contrasting country side as we travel through Peterborough as we make our way to the Historic Mining town of Burra. We see the 'Dug-Out' Houses made in the creek banks, along with the Paxton Square Cottages and the Redruth Goal Location for the film 'Breaker Morant'. Continue along the River land country of Morgan past the tranquil Lake Bonney to Renmark a for our Overnight Stay at the Citrus Valley Motel Renmark.

DAY 9 – Wednesday 9th MILDURA - HOME

This morning we make our way through Manangatang to Swan Hill. Continue along the Murray Valley Highway then homeward bound after a great experience exploring the Flinders Ranges and Outback South Australia.

A deposit of $150 per person is required on booking to confirm your reservation.

Balance is due by 20th Aug ’24. Full payment is required if booking after the above date.

Accommodation Preferred: –   Twin / Double / Single / Triple / Will Share – Passengers who are willing to share with other passengers. *Please Note: For all ‘Will Share’ Passengers we will endeavour to find another single traveller of the same gender with whom you can share a room (if we are unable to do so then Single Supplement will apply). If we are unable to find someone for you to share with then single supplement will apply. In the event that shared passenger finds they are not compatible they will each have to pay for a single room option, if available.

FREE PASSENGER PICKUP & RETURN SERVICE: For the convenience of all our passengers CARDWELL’S COACH TRAVEL provide Free Passenger Pickup & Return Service from all major Towns in North, North-East, Central Victoria & Southern NSW.  (For Example:  Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla, Seymour, Bendigo, Finley, Kerang, Echuca, Deniliquin, Yarrawonga, Corowa, and towns within these areas). For Passenger’s who live outside these areas Cardwell’s provide Overnight accommodation in Numurkah and ‘Free lock up car storage’ at our Numurkah depot.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Notice of cancellation given before balance due date. Refund of monies paid less $50, notice give on or after balance due date NO REFUND.

FARES & ITINERARIES: CARDWELL’S COACH TRAVEL costs published & outlined in the brochure are frozen, errors or printing mistakes are subject to correction. However, policy changes by rail/air/sea operators or changes in Government duties or taxes are outside the control of CARDWELL’S COACH TRAVEL. Air fares and other discount travel arrangements may be subject to availability of seats/berths, as determined by transport companies.  No increases apply once full fare is paid. The Tour duration includes the day of departure and the day of return. Fares shown make no allowance for extra accommodation or transfers necessitated by en-route stop-overs caused by rail/air/boat schedules, strikes or other reasons. Your Travel Agent will forward deposits and other payments to us on your behalf.  Receipt of deposits and also subsequent payments by the travel agent does not constitute receipts of those monies by us.  There is no liability on our part in respect of any monies paid to your Travel Agent unless and until we notify you (by way of Booking Confirmation Advice or Payment Receipt Advice) that monies have been received by us.  CARDWELL’S COACH TRAVEL reserves the right to cancel any ticket or booking or to refuse to carry any passenger where payment has not been received by CARDWELL’S COACH TRAVEL and has the right to accept wait listed passengers in place of those failing to finalise within the prescribed time.

ELIGIBILITY: No passenger will be permitted to embark or continue on the tour while their mental or physical condition is, in the opinion of CARDWELLS’ COACH TRAVEL, such as to render them incapable of caring for themselves, or they become objectionable to other passengers.  However, any person/s who cannot travel independently or needs special assistance must be accompanied by a companion.

ITINERARY CHANGES: Itineraries, accommodation, tours and cruises are subject to alteration with or without notice and intended as a guide only.  Alterations may come about due to road or weather conditions, strikes, non-performance by a supplier or any other reasons CARDWELL’S COACH TRAVEL act in your best interest in any such changes.

FUEL SURCHARGE: Due to the instability of world oil prices, in the event that fuel reaches $2.00/litre a Fuel Surcharge of $5/person per day will apply to the final payment. Subject to change.

SEAT CHANGES: A seat rotation system everyday ensures that all passengers have the opportunity to enjoy similar seating arrangements.

 

LUGGAGE: One medium suitcase per person, not exceeding 20kg (42lbs) and one carry bag for inside the coach.  Over limit luggage cannot be carried.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: We can arrange for passengers to take out travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances which may arise (including cancellation fees, medical & curtailment expenses, loss of luggage, early departure from tour due to death or illness etc.)  Ask your travel agent for details at time of booking.

FORCE MAJEURE: If by any means of any event of Force Majeure (which shall include terrorism, pandemic or any cause or event outside our control) we shall be delayed in or prevented from performing our obligations, then such delay or non-performance shall not be deemed a breach or entitled a damages claim. Our obligations shall be suspended whilst such event of force majeure. New Terms and conditions will apply.
